An elderly couple in the Netherlands has died after their car was hit by a truck that was carrying care workers, an accident that is being investigated by Dutch police.
The accident happened at the intersection of the main road into the city of Leiden on Friday morning.
The couple was driving their car, which had been repaired by the care workers in Belgium.
The accident happened in the village of Pijnlants, close to the border with Belgium, a city in the north of the country.
The man’s wife was taken to hospital, while the woman died at the scene.
The police are now looking into the cause of the accident.
The Netherlands is home to more than 300,000 migrant care worker, who are needed to care for people with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease and other illnesses.
